Jaihoon’s lyric poem explores the profound connection between the beloved and the heart through metaphors drawn from nature.
Once to my heart,
Made I an appeal,
“Tell me about
The one you conceal.”
It replied,
“I am the tree,
She rests in its shade.
I am the burning Sun,
She is the glorious beam.
I am the elegant sky,
She is the moon, shy.
I am the sharp eye,
She is its wonder-see.
I am the ear,
She, its song.
I am the Ring,
She, the stone.
I am the king,
She, the crown.
I am the cup,
She is the wine.
I am the heart,
She is the beat.
If you have seen my face true,
Know, you have seen her too.”
